Grace Konecne, the daughter of Wilbur and Viola Branan, was born in Keokuk County, Iowa, December 3. 1896 and passed away December 17, 1977, at the age of 81 years and 14 days, at the Colonial Manor in Corning, Iowa.
She was married to Ora Konecne August 12, 1916 at Bedford, Iowa who preceded her in death on April 7. 1971. To this union three children were born, Max of Phoenix, Arizona; Vesta: Mrs. Darold Gordon of Creston, Iowa; and Dean of Downey, Calif., who preceded her in death November 18. 1961. She was also preceded in death by her daughter-in-law, Dorothy Konecne May 6,1976; and by three brothers and one sister.
In addition to her children she is survived by a son-in-law, Darold Gordon of Creston; seven grandchildren: Larry Konecne and wife Sally of Hemet, Calif., Judy Reeves and husband Tom of Omaha, Neb., Chris Konecne Bobby cf Redding, Calif., Ronald Konecne and wife Monica of Purdy, Mo., Gale Duncan and husband Terry of Memphis, Mo., Sue Adams and husband Jerry of Creston, Dale Gordon and wife Barbara of Urbandale, as well as by 11 great-grandchildren; two sisters. May Stephens of Diagonal and Hester (Mrs. A.D. Case of Lincoln, Neb. and many other relatives and friends.
Grace aad Ora spent their married life farming around the Fairview community until retiring and moving from the farm into Corning on the third of January, 1967. Grace continued to live there until July 25, 1975 when she moved to the Colonial Manor nursing home. They were members of the Fairview church.
Funeral services were held at the Larkin-Roland Funeral Home December 20 at 1:30 p.m., conducted by Rev. Howard Wells.
Interment was in Prairie Rose cemetery.
Music was provided by Donna Pesckham, organist, and Doris Swartz, vocalist Pallbearers were Keith Hadley, Ralph Huntington, Paul Mitchell, Dean Leonard, Edward Naven and Henry Bycroft.
