Artermicapia (Artie) Mable McClelland, the daughter of George and Jane Bainter Naven was born July 14, 1886 near Stronghurst, Illinois and passed away April 19, 1980 at the Rosary Hospital in Corning, after a short illness. She was 93 years, 9 months, and 5 days old.
She was united in marriage to Robert G. McClelland, September 15, 1909 in Corning, Iowa. On September 15 of last year they were blesses with 70 wonderful years of marriage.
Survivors include her husband, Robert and many nephews and nieces.
She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, William, Clyde, and Clarence Naven and by one sister, Jessie Pond.
She became a member of the Iveyville Church at an early age and during her childhood, she resided in Taylor County. After her marriage to Bob, they moved to South Dakota until the year of 1937 when they returned to Iowa, living in the Lenox and Corning communities.
She spent many hours of enjoyment working with her flowers and garden. Aunt Artie especially enjoyed time spent with her nieces and nephews and their families.
She was loved by all who knew her and will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
She is away, yet ever near, her presence fills each day, her voice, her smile are everywhere, a memory away.
And though she is no longer seen, by her family and friends, she lives because she was dearly loved and love can never end.
Funeral services were held at the Larkin-Roland Funeral Home in Corning, April 21, at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Ray Thompson officiating. Interment in Prairie Rose Cemetery, Corning, Iowa.
Music was provided by Erma Fuller, organist and Doris Swartz and Dale Jackson, vocalist. Pallbearers were Hollis Naven, Norman Naven, Edward Naven, Max Pond, Ronald Naven, and Dean Naven.
