Clyde Edward Naven
Clyde E. Naven, son of George and Jane Naven, was born November 30, 1888 at Crab Orchard, Nebraska and died October 6. 1976 at his home in Corning, Iowa, at the age of 87 years, 10 months and 6 days.
His parents moved to Iowa when Clyde was only one year old and he spent the remainder of his life in Adams and Taylor counties where he obtained his education, grew to manhood and farmed.
Clyde was united in marriage with Edith M. Fudge on September 9, 1914. Two children, Maxine and Edward, were born to bless their union.
After Edith's death on November 11, 1932, Clyde and Sadie Thomas were married on January 3, 1934. They lived on the home farm south of Corning until 1966 when they retired and moved to town.
Clyde was a member of the United Methodist Church and the Masonic lodge.
Known as an extremely friendly man, Clyde's quick wit and sense of humor made him much appreciated by his many friends.
One of his greatest pleasures was gardening which he continued as long as his health permitted.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, a brother William and a sister, Jessie.
Surviving to mourn his passing are his wife Sadie, daughter, Maxine E. Graham of Boulder City, Nevada, son, Edward W. of Brooks, Iowa; 4 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Artie McClelland of corning, a brother Clarence of Brooks, Iowa, other relatives and may friends.
Funeral services were held at the Larkin-Roland Funeral Home in Corning, October 8 at 1:30 p.m., with Rev. James W. Xing and Rev. Ray Thompson officiating. Interment was in the Prairie Rose Cemetery.
