Friends were grieved to learn of the sudden illness of William Fudge, aged citizen of Adams County and later to know of his death, which occurred Sunday at 4 p.m. Mr. Fudge was stricken with a paralysis last Friday while working in his garden. He was taken to the Creston hospital, where he lingered until Sunday afternoon. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at the Iveyville Methodist Church, conducted by the Rev. October. Interment was made in the Prairie Rose Cemetery.
William Fudge, son of Benjamin and Hezekiah Fudge, was born in Somerset Shire, England, May 14, 1859, and died at the Creston hospital May 9th, 1937, aged 77 years, 11 months, and 25 days.
When 8 years of age, he came to America with his parents, living in Illinois and Iowa. He was married to Ida M. Cox in 1885. Mrs. Cox died in September, 1895. To Mr. and Mrs. Fudge three children were born, Arthur and Wilbur of Brooks and Edith who died four years ago.
He leaves to mourn his two sons, eight grandchildren, one brother H. H. Fudge, and many other relatives and friends. He was a kind and loving father, a good neighbor, and will be greatly missed in the community.
Those attending the funeral of William Fudge from a distance were Mr. and Mrs. Willie Fudge, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Tiegerbein of Lincoln, Nebraska; Bennie Fudge of Kirksville, Missouri.
