Ida Alice Cox Fudge
The Union has to announce this week the self destruction of another of Adams County's people, that of Mrs. William Fudge of Washington Township..
Mrs. Fudge took her own life by tying a rope around a piece of timber, then around her neck and jumped into a well. the timber was placed across the well curb so that death would ensue from hanging, but drowning caused her death.
She was a woman about thirty years of age and was subject to spells of temporary aberration of the mind in which she always wanted to take her life and has made several unsuccessful attempts.
A few days ago she began to feel badly and stated to Dr. Conkley that she could not trust herself so great was her desire to end her existence.
Mr. Fudge had gone to his work, but became uneasy about her condition and returned home at eleven o'clock when he found a note saying he would find her in the well. The coroners verdict is in accordance with the above facts. Interment occurred yesterday. It is a tragedy and Mr. Fudge and little children have general sympathy.
