Clarence Otto Tucker, son of Samuel G. and Eva Sisk Tucker, was born on a farm near Brooks,Iowa, on May 7, 1878, and passed away at the home of his son, Carl, in Ottumwa, Iowa, on Saturday evening, April 26, 1947, at 7:16 at the age of 68 years, 11 months and 19 days after being in failing health since November.
On February 24, 1904, he was united in marriage to Zephia May Shryack. This union was blessed with four children, all of whom survive him. He was a kind and loving husband and father and a generous and dependable neighbor. His entire life was lived in the community in which he was born until 1943, when he retired, moving to Corning, where he spent his remaining years. He was a member of the Mt. Zion Presbyterian Church, having served as elder for a number of years.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother; three brothers, Grover, Floyd and Everett; three sisters, Oma, Vada and Eva Maree. He leaves to mourn his loss; his wife, three sons, Carl of Ottumwa, Glenn of Brooks, Ora of near Corning; one daughter, Dorothy Parrott of San Diego, California; seven grandchildren; one brother, Forvis of Denver, Colorado; one sister, Mrs. Chroma Wood, of Steamboat Springs, Colorado, also a host of relatives and friends. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon, April 29, 1947, at the Federated Church in Corning, Iowa, conducted by Rev. Silas Overhoiser and Rev. Alfred Nelson. Music was by Mrs. Harry Thompson and Mrs. Floyd Walter, accompanied by Mary Masker. Pall bearers were Mike Spring, Jake Spring, Fred Hedinger, Fred Hanzie, Joe Walter and Artie White. Interment was in Methodist Grove Cemetery.
