Ernie Verle Olson,79, of Corning, formerly of Villisca, Iowa, was born October 28,1913, in Montgomery County, to Andrew and Mollie Johnson Olson and died August 9, 1993, at his home in Corning after a prolonged illness. Services were held August 12 at the Strand Lutheran Church in rural Villisca with the Rev. Karen Hansell officiating. Burial was in the Strand Cemetery. Mr. Olson was confirmed at the Strand Lutheran Church where he was a member. He lived his entire life in the Adams and Montgomery counties. He married Kathryn Brenton on December 18,1937. They celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary this past year. He farmed and also worked at the Carbon Plant in Red Oak for 15 years.
Survivors include his wife, Kathryn, of Corning; his daughter, Saundra (Dick) Brown of Avoca; his son, Jim (Kay) Olson of Corning; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a brother, Melvin (Mary) of Phoenix, Arizona; and two brothers-in-law, Russell Anderson of Villisca, and Bob Jorgenson of Springfield, Missouri. Casket bearers were Roger and Scott Brown, Kevin Olson, John McElwain, Chris Mead and Richard Anderson. Honorary casket bearers were Russell Anderson, Bob Jorgenson, Orville Mitchell, Dean King, Tony Hardisty, Phil Kinser, Wes Scott, Ken Cartwright and Gerald Anderson. Wolfe Funeral Home of Vllisca was in charge of the arrangements.
