Carrie Elnora Campbell Everett, daughter of Albert Wilson Campbell and Bertha Odell Campbell, was born February 23, 1868 near Brooks, Iowa and passed away at the family home east of Nodaway, October 7, 1960 at the age of 92 years, 7 months, and 13 days.
With the exception of two years in Kansas, her entire life was spent in this community. She is survived by one brother, Charles F. Campbell, of Emmett, Idaho. Two sisters preceded her in death.
She was united in marriage to Charles Everett on March 21, 1896. Mr. Everett passed away November 24, 1942. To this union ten children were born. The eight living children are Albert T. and Frank F. of Council Bluffs, Iowa, Smith M. of Van Nuys, California, Harold G. and Mrs. Florence Brown, James A., Paul E., and Clarence C., all of Nodaway, Iowa. Two children, Charles Milton and Mattie preceded her in death. She is also survived by nine grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
At an early age, Mrs. Everett was baptized and became an active member of the Nodaway Methodist Church with which she enjoyed her communion and association of her friends. Her entire life was spent as a devoted mother in the interest and welfare of her home and family. This happy life was complicated by an accident five years ago, which confined her to her bed since that time. Throughout this period she was willingly and cheerfully attended by her children until the end. She leaves a host of friends and neighbors. The family feel deeply the loss of a truly loving and devoted mother.
Funeral services were held Monday, October 10, 1960 at 2 p.m. from the Nodaway Methodist Church with Rev. Clarence Moore officiating. Music was by Emma Jean Shipley and Rose Stalder. Pall bearers were Harry Weaver, Merlin Johnson, Paul Brown, Eddie Hulsebus, Donald Everett, and Wayne Triplett. Flower bearers were Amelia Crstad, Grace Lucas, and Lucille Williams. Interment was in the Nodaway Cemetery.
