Mildred Harriett Cox Kapple, daughter of John G. and Lola K. Cox was born December 8, 1918 near Gravity, Iowa and passed away December 13, 1949 at her home south of Corning, Iowa at the age of 31 years and 5 days. She attended Bedford High School graduating in 1939. She taught for four years in Taylor County rural schools.
May 12, 1943 she was married Arthur Charles Kapple of Corning, Iowa, where they have made their home. To this union two sons were born, Lowell Wayne and Byron Lee. She is survived by her husband, two sons, her parents, four brothers, and one sister. Ralph of New Market, Howard of Cedar Rapids, Wayne Gordon and Edna Ruth Cox of Bedford, Iowa.
It was not known until the last of November that her sickness was serious, when at that time she was taken to Mayo's where it was learned that nothing could be done. She was bedfast from that time. She was always patient and never complained. She was a loving mother and enjoyed her family and friends. She attended the Fairview Church when her health permitted. She was a member of the Ladies Circle.
She will be greatly missed by her loving husband, sons, relatives, and a host of friends.
Funeral services were conducted from the Fairview Church, Thursday, December 15, 1949 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Willey officiating. Burial was made in the Methodist Grove Church. Music was by Mrs. Albert Lund and Harl Jackson with Miss Vida Jackson as pianist. Pall bearers were Louis Lyman, Robert Little, Ivan Heaton, Russell Vogel, Byran Holbrook, and Kenneth Jenkins.
