Myrtle Firkins Richards was born in Illinois, December 11, 1870 and died at her home February 29, 1960 at the age of 89 years, 2 months, and 18 days.
She was united in marriage to John Wesley Richards on October 3, 1889. She spent most of her life in the Corning Community.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Wesley Richards on February 21, 1945 and a son, Earl, who died in 1924.
She is survived by two sons, Lyle of Fort Dodge and Dale of Corning; a brother, Clinton Firkins of Corning; three sisters, Mrs. Harry Shipley of Villisca, Mrs. Ross Rogers of Des Moines, and Nellie Van Alstine of Corning; four grandchildren, who spent a great deal of their lives in Mrs. Richards home, Howard of Laurens, Everett of Carroll, Myrtle Sanders of Villisca, and Harold of Corning; many other relatives and friends.
She was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church in Corning.Services were held Thursday, March 3, 1960 at 2 p.m. from the First Baptist Church in Corning with rev. Virgil Peterson officiating. Interment was in Prairie Rose Cemetery.
