John Wesley Richards was born in Henry County, Iowa, November 6, 1863 and passed away February 21, 1945 at the age of 79 years, 3 months, and 15 days.
He came to Taylor County, Iowa, when a small boy and grew to manhood there. On October 2, 1889 he was married to Myrtle Firkins. To this union three sons were born, Dale, Earl, and Lyle. Earl preceded him in death in 1924.
He leaves to mourn his death, his wife and two sons, one brother, George of Haley, Oregon and one sister, Mrs. Hattie Ditto of Maryville, Missouri; and one sister Mary Nichols of Halsey, Oregon, preceded him in death; eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
He was a faithful member of the Corning Baptist Church.
Funeral services were held at the Corning Baptist Church Saturday afternoon, February 24, 1945 at 2 o'clock, conducted by Rev. Thurman Bowen of Ottumwa, Iowa. Interment was made in Prairies Rose Cemetery.
