John B. King died at his home in this city last Tuesday evening, aged 64 years, 11 months, and 24 days, of that dread disease, consumption, of which he had been a patient sufferer for more than four years and for several months his death had been daily expected. Mr. King was born in New York City in 1842 and came west with his parents when a young man, settling in Illinois and in 1856 the family moved to Keokuk, Iowa. The deceased married Miss Christena McMullen of Sigourney in 1874, who survives him. To this union were born four children, all of whom are dead. The family came to Adams county in 1885 where they have been honored and respected citizens. The funeral was held from the family home on Thursday afternoon and was largely attended, conducted by Rev. A. G. Graves of the Congregational Church. Interment in the Walnut Grove Cemetery.
