Ruby Charlotte Powell, 88, was born Dec. 29, 1904. to Solomon and Lettia (Walton) Hardisty and died June 3. 1993.
Services were held June 7 from the Coen Beaty Funeral Home In Corning, the Rev. Scott Marcus officiating. Burial was in the Oakland Cemetery In rural Corning.
She married Harold Groff July 29, 1924. She married Charles Thomas Powell Oct 29, 1932. She moved to Creston in 1942 and lived there until 1991 when she moved to the Mt. Ayr Health Care Center.
She worked at Gifts Manufacturing Co. for a number of years and at Greater Community Hospital in Creston.
She joined the Methodist Church at Quincy when she was 14 years old.
She was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; seven sisters, five brothers; a stepson; one son-in-Iaw, Rex Welling; two great grandchildren; and a niece who was raised as a sister.
Survivors Include two sons, Ivan Groff (wife Sharon) of Blockton, and Leo (wife Bonnie) Powell of Creston; a daughter Loletta (husband Rex) Welling of Mt. Ayr; one step-son, Charles Powell (wife Mildred) of Bethel Island, Calif; 11 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren. Casket bearers were Jon Powell, Rod Harris, Bill Welling, Keith Welling, Brian Lawrence, and Alan Longfellow.
Memorials may be directed to the family.
