FUNERAL SERVICES FOR FRANK HEATON
Lived in community 63 years
Sixty-three years in a community is a record of which to feel proud, and one which binds the memory of pioneers to the very heart of a community. Such was the record of Frank J. Heaton, whose gradual decline his family and friends have watched with anxiety the past few months. A trip to Omaha recently faled to offer any hope of relief and he came home a few weeks ago to be cared for in his own home untl the end. The kindness and devotion of family and friends has comforted his last days and the period of patience in suffering and cheerfulness in the face of death, was a fitting climax to a life well spent in a community which was always better for his influence and progressive because of his inspiration.
Frank J. son of O.R. and Annie E. Shrader Heaton, was born on January 25, 1868, near Bushnell, Illinois, the second eldest of a family of seven children. He passed away at his home in Brooks at 4:45 a.m. on December 9, 1938, aged 70 years, 10 months and 14 days. When the Ivey store was moved to Corning, Mr. and Mrs. Heaton also moved there, where he continued in his employment with Mr. Ivey. About the year 1896, O.R. Heaton opened an implement business in Corning and was assisted y both sons, Frank J. and W. Elmer for a number of years. After that Mr. Heaton was associated for a time with Jake Arthur in the real estate business.
During their residence at Corning their only child, Ivan M., was born. In the year of 1905, the family moved to Brooks, where Mr. Heaton engaged in the banking and insurance business, and this has been the family home since that time. Ara Adna Heaton passed away on August 28, 1926. On September 19th,1927, he was united in marriage to Eva R. Bush of the Stringtown vicinity.
