Adams County Union- Republican, Corning,Iowa
Wednesday, August 15, 1906

Orange R. Heaton died at his home in this city Tuesday afternoon, August 14, 1906, at 2 o'clock. The funeral will be held from the residence at 2 o'clock Thursday, August 16th, conducted by Rev. L.C. Harris, of Logan, Iowa, and interment made in Prairie Rose Cemetery.
Mr. Heaton was born in Bushnell,Illinois, August 29th, 1842. He would have been 64 years old the 29th of the present month, had he lived until that date. He resided in Bushnell until reaching manhood's estate, and was married to Miss Anna E. Shrader, of that place, December 22, 1864. To them were born seven children, all of whom survive the father. They are: Mrs. Mary F. Pierce, Kanawha, Iowa; Frank J. Heaton, Brooks; Mrs. Lulu Hicks, Creston; Lew O. Heaton, residing on the home farm near Iveyville; W.E. Heaton, associated with his father in the implement business in this place; Granville O. Heaton, member of the United States regular army in the Phillippines, and Mrs. Millie Andrews, Red Oak.
In 1872 Mr. Heaton and his family came to Adams County, settling on a farm just north of Iveyville, which has remained in his possession ever since. After the demise of his first wife Mr. Heaton was in 1885 married to Mrs. Mary E. Woods, and to them was born a daughter, Hazel, who also survives her father.
Mr. Heaton came to Corning, some years ago, after having successfully conducted an implement business in Iveyville and engaged in the same line here. With the exception of an interval of somethng over a year spent in Oklahoma, Mr. Heaton has resided continously in Adams County since his advent here over 34 years ago.
His last marriage was October 4th, 1899, when he was united to Mrs. C.A. Pinkerton, who survives him. He was a member of the Christian Church and has been a Mason for a great many years. That society will have charge of the burial exercises at the cemetery.
We know of no more fitting eulogy of Mr. Heaton than to say that he had no enemies. Blessed with an exceptionally large acquaintance in this county, he was esteemed as a friend by everyone he knew. A jovial good fellow, honest and fair in his treatment of all, he had the faculty of making a friend of every one with whom he came in contact. For the past two weeks Mr. Heaton has been unconscious from the effect of brain trouble, exept for a very few moments one day, when he called his wife to him and said he was dying. The end came yesterday. In his death the community sustains the loss of a good business man and a sincere friend. It brings genuine regret to all, and the sorrowing family.
