George Washington Hardisty, Jr., the youngest son of George Washington Hardisty, Sr., and Ella E. Hardisty passed away Monday morning, August 1, following a stroke on the previous Wednesday morning at the age of 61 years and 6 months.
He was born February 3rd, 1888 in Carbon, Iowa. His parents moved to a farm south of Brooks when he was two and one-half years old. He has lived on the same farm 59 years. He was one of a family of 11 children.
He was preceded in death by his mother, father, two sisters, and two brothers. He was married to Susie Chilcott December 20, 1910 in Corning, Iowa. He leaves a widow and five children, who are Paul and Ivan Hardisty and Irma Jenkins of Nodaway; Ruth Lilly of Orient, Iowa and Ralph, residing at home. He also leaves six grandchildren, Robert Perrin, Jean and Joan Hardisty, Sammy, Susan, and Richard Jenkins. He leaves five sisters and one brother. Mrs. Grace Chilcott, Mrs. Loulo Thomas, Mrs. Myrtle Flowers, of Corning. Mrs. Fay Thomas and Eugene Hardisty of Brooks; Mrs. Eva White of Cresco, Iowa.
Funeral services were held at Brooks, Wednesday afternoon, August 3rd, at 2 o'clock conducted by Rev. Donald Cutler of the Methodist Church. Music was by Esther Roland and John Riegel. The pallbearers were his three sons, Ralph, Ivan, and Paul; two son-in-law, Art Lilly, and Kenneth Jenkins, and one nephew, Glen Chilcott; Burial was in the Quincy Cemetery.
