Lettia Jane Walton, daughter of Nelson and Susanna Walton, was born in Lynn county. Iowa. November 6, 1859 1553, When a child with her parents, moved to Adams County, where she grew up. She was married to Solomon Hardisty, March 26, 1876. Thirteen children were born to this union; four daughters are deceased. Lurena and Effie Leona died in childhood. Lettia Emaline Hyde in 1909, and Elva May Falconer in 1939. The living children are Elmer Hardisty, Mascena, Iowa, Nora Penland, Clarinda, Iowa: Anna Brown, Grant City. Missouri, Rosa Moans. Grant City, Missouri, Arthur Hardisty, of Carbon. Iowa , U.T Hardisty. Edward Hardisty and Burton Hardisty of Corning. Iowa, and Ruby Powell. Creston. Iowa. Also one granddaughter. Goldie Hyde Means, Afton was raised in the home and is as one of the children.

She also leaves forty-one grandchildren, eighty-nine great-grandchildren and twenty-four jn-eat-Rreat-grandohildren:
two sons-in-law. Billy Brown and Harrison Means of Grant City, Missouri, three daughters-in-law. Maggie Hardisty, Massena, Iowa: Mrs. Lee Hardisty. and Mrs. Burton Hardisty of Corning, Iowa.
She also leaves five brothers and two sisters. Mrs. Ellen Bailey, Lincoln, Nebraska, and Mrs. Rosa Kannuse of Logan, Iowa: brothers. Grant Walton, and Hiatt. Walton of South Dakota and Sherman and John Walton of Corning, and Lafe Walton of Carbon.

Mr. and Mrs. Hardisty moved to the present home in Quincy in 1896, where Mr. Hardisty passed away on May 3rd, 1939.
Mrs. Hardisty made her home there the remaining time, until became ill August 4, 1949, and died in the Osborn Nursing Home, at Nodaway, Iowa, aged 89 years. 10 months, and 8 days, Wednesday. September 14, 1949.

Mrs. Hardisty was the last of the pioneer families of Quincy. She has lived in the same house more than 53 years.

Funeral services were held Friday afternoon. September 16th at two o'clock. In the Carbon Methodist church, conducted by Rev. Donald Cutler. Music was furnished by Mrs. Orace Bixler, Mrs. Rowena Gebbie, Don Routh, and Albert Mack, accompanied by Mrs. Don Routh. Pall bearers were Elmer Hardisty, Arthur Hardisty, Lee Hardisty. Edd. Hardisty, Burton Hardisty and Bill Brown.

Interment was in the Quincy Cemetery.
