Susie Vergie Chilcott Hardisty, daughter of James M. Chilcott and Lula Mullins Chilcott, passed away Monday evening at the Rosary Hospital following a heart attack.
She was born in Saline County, Missouri on July 4, 1888. When 2 years of age, her mother passed away and she made her home with her aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. A. M. Wilson. At a early age, she united with the Methodist Church in Maryville, Missouri. Her membership was later transferred to the Methodist Church in Brooks, Iowa. She attended high school in Maryville.
December 20, 1910 she was united in marriage in Corning, Iowa to George W. Hardisty. They moved to the groom's farm in Jasper Township, south of Brooks, where she resided until her death. He husband preceded her in death 10 years ago. She leaves to mourn her passing two daughters, Ruth Lilly of Orient, Iowa; Irma Jenkins of San Diego, California; three sons, Ivan of Lenox, Ralph and Paul at home in Brooks; six grandchildren, Sam and Dick Jenkins, Susan Lawrence, Robert Perrin, Jean and Joan Hardisty, one great-grandchild, Douglas Edward Lawrence; two son-in-laws, Art Lilly and Kenneth Jenkins; one daughter-in-law, Rose Hadst. She is also survived by one brother, Wallace Chilcott of Corning and a half sister, Darlene Fagan of Oakville Washington; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Mrs. Hardisty loved her home and enjoyed her children and grandchildren.
Funereal services were conducted by Joe Cook at the Brooks Church Friday afternoon at 3:00 with burial in the Quincy Cemetery.
