Nancy Anna Jolly Lacock was born in Ohio, May 6. 1831 and died August 18, 1918, being at the time of her death 87 years, 3 months, and 12 days. She with her parents moved to Indiana when she was six weeks old, where she grew to womanhood.. She married Alva Lacock October 15, 1848, moving to Clinton County, Iowa in 1865. They came to Adams County in 1874, where she lived most of the time till her death August 18, 1918. To this union nine children were born, three of them having preceded her to the great beyond. They are Jacob, deceased, John of Nodaway, and George of Villisca; Mrs. Sarah Cochran of Stiles, Idaho, Thomas of Hurdsfield, North Dakota, Mrs. Nancy Hardee, deceased, Mrs. Abbie York of Palmer, Nebraska, Alva of Hinesdale, Montana, and Jasper, having died in infancy. Her husband died in 1892. She also has fifty-seven grandchildren, sixty-four great-grandchildren, and four great-great grandchildren. She became a member of the Christian Church at the age of fifteen and has lived faithful to her belief until her death. One fond memory of her childhood days was the little log church with its home-made seats and other rustic furniture in the Indiana forest, shaded by beautiful trees. She was a fond and devoted mother, a kind and generous neighbor. She had long been an invalid, but bore her illness patiently. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the A. C. Church in Villisca. Six grandsons of the deceased acted as pall bearers. Interment was made in the Methodist Grove Cemetery.
