She came at an early age with her parents and spent most of her life in Iowa.
She was united in marriage on July 3, 1872 to Jacob Lacox and to this union 10 children were born. Two sons and three daughters, with the husband and father having preceded her in death. Those surviving are, Mrs. Irene McFarland of Elmo, Missouri, Mrs. Leota Bullock, of Nodaway, Iowa, Mrs. Jessie McCowen of Elmo, Missouri, and Glen of Elmo, Missouri, and Mrs. Clara Brown of Creston, Iowa. Also 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; also one brother Joe Shields of Stanton, Iowa, together with a host of other relatives and friends who mourn the passing of their loved one.
At the age of 15 she was united with the Christian Church during meetings conducted by Rev. Joe Petegrine and has ever since been a faithful follower of Christ down through the years.
She was sustained and comforted by Christ through the sickness and expressed her willingness and her readiness to go to meet her maker. She was a wonderful mother, a kind, friendly neighbor, and will be sadly missed by those who love her most.
Funeral services were conducted at the home Sunday afternoon at 2:30 in charge of the Christian minister from Red Oak. Interment was made in the Methodist Grove Cemetery.
