Daniel Kerr Strain, son of William P. and Nancy Hughes Strain was born near Nakomis, Illinois on September 7, 1867 and passed away at the Briggs Nursing Home in Corning, Iowa at the age of 91 years, 1 month, and 4 days.
Mr. Strain came to Adams County,m Iowa in 1899. Most of his life was spent in farming near Nodaway.
On December 25, 2901 he was united in marriage to Emma King. To this union were born a daughter, Evelyn Esther, born June 23, 1903 and died March 24, 1907 and a son, Lyman Paul, born December 25, 1907 and died in September of 1903. His wife passed away on November 1939 at their home in Nodaway where they had lived since 1920.
Mr. Strain was a staunch and faithful member of the Presbyterian Church. He served as Sunday School Superintendent and elder of the church.,
He was also preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Rev. John Strain in Pennsylvania, and Will Strain of Illinois. He is survived by one brother, Rev, Robert Strain in Newman, California, and a number of nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
Services were held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, October 13, at the Presbyterian Church in Nodaway, Iowa, Rev. Alvin Sigafus in charge of this service.
Pallbearers were Ted Kennedy, Frank Kennedy, Ray McCoy, Clyde Vaughn, Bert Gidley, and Clarence Gile. Flower bearers were Mrs. Rose Stalder and Mrs. L. J., Cronwall.
Mr. Stain was laid to rest beside his wife in the Nodaway Cemetery.
