Harold H. Hefling, commonly known among his friends as "Heff", was the son of William S. and Lydia Harlow Hefling. He was born September 15, 1894 in Corning, Iowa and passed away on Monday, April 4, 1977 at the Atlantic Care Center in Atlantic, Iowa.
He attended both the Brooks and Corning High Schools.
For several years he operated a garage, also a small grocery store in Brooks, Iowa.
He was married to Estey Blazer at Glenwood, Iowa, June 14, 1916. Estey resides at Colonial Manor in Corning.
For several years he worked for the Burlington Railroad, serving as an agent and telegrapher. He worked in Nodaway, Iowa for several years. While in Nodaway he joined the Iroquois Lodge No 590, Ancient Free & Accepted Masons, and in August 1974 he was awarded the 50 year membership pin.
He also worked for several years for railroads in the West and Southwest because he preferred the climate of these states.
His father, mother, brother and sister and many other relatives preceded him in death many years ago. He is survived by his wife and by several cousins.
Funeral services were held at the Larkin-Roland Funeral Home in Corning, April 6 at 3:00 p.m. with Rev. James W. King and Rev. Ray Thompson officiating. Interment was in the Brooks Cemetery, The Ancient Free & Accepted Masons conducted Masonic services.
