Stacia Hoffman Died Sunday

Mrs.Stacia Margaret Hoffman,77,a former resident of Adair, died Saturday morning, June 15,1974, at the North Grand Care Center at Ames, Iowa.
She was born Feb.5,1897 near Greenfield, the daughter of Robert J. and Jennie Frizell Reed.
Survivors include Jane [Mrs.Manuel Coria] and 2 grandsons, Craig and Kevin Coria all of Ames; 2 sisters Mrs. Myrtle Jones of Greenfield and Mrs. Blanche E.Vana of Montour, Iowa.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister Mrs. Ethel Fagan and her husband who died Sept.19,1956.
She attended public school in Greenfield and was graduated from Greenfield High School with the class of 1918. She was also graduated from the Greater Community Hospital School of Nursing at Creston. She worked at Camp Dodge during WW1 epidemic and attended the University of Michigan School of Public Health at Ann Arbor, Mich. She was the Public Health Nurse in Adair County.
She was married to William H.Hoffman, Nov.20,1920 at Omaha and the couple lived in Creston for a few years, and later lived in Maquoketa, Iowa, before coming to Adair in 1930 to operate the funeral home here, until her retirement on Jan.1,1970.
She was a past member of the Adair Library Board, a past president of the Adair Civic League, served on the Adair Board of Education for 4 and a half years, and she was the school nurse for the Adair-Casey system for 25 years. She was a past trustee of the Adair County Hospital Board, a past president of the American Legion Auxiliary, a life-time member of the Presbyterian Church and in 1963 she was selected as the Adair County Citizen of the year.
Family and friends paid parting respects to Mrs. Hoffman at funeral services held at 2p.m. Tuesday June 18 at the Presbyterian Church in Adair, with Rev.John Davis contucting the last rites. Burial was in Sunnyhill Cemetery.
