Funeral Rites For Mrs.Fred Rivenburgh

Funeral services for Mrs. Fred Rivenburgh, 71, were held Sunday afternoon at 2:30 at the Methodist Church in Greenfield. The Rev.Frank Jacobs conducted the services.
Music was furnished by Mrs. Marion Carlson, Mrs. Floyd Brown, F.E.Rhodes and P.L.Bickford with Miss Ethel Carl as accompanist. The selections were "Going Down The Valley", "This World Is Not My Home" and "Abide With Me".
Those serving as casket bearers were Heney Gildemaster, James Dwyer, Leslie Miller, Harry Black, Don Hogan and Henry Heinbuch. Burial took place in the Greenfield Cemetery.
Rosa Schwab, daughter of Alex and Helen Schwab, was born Jan.19,1876, in Richland Township, Adair County and passed away after a lingering illness in her home in Greenfield, Jan.31,1947, at the age of 71 years and 12 days.
As a child she lived with her family on the home farm and moved with them to Greenfield in 1895, where she attended the Greenfield High School.
She was a lover of fine music and at one time, gave music lessons.
She was married Christmas Eve Dec.24,1899, to Fred Rivenbaugh. They first established their home in Summerset Township, where they lived 5 years. Next they moved to Prussia Township, where they lived 2 years. In 1908 they moved to their farm in Richland Township where they continued to live for 39 years. In Oct 1946, they moved to their present home in Greenfield.
Mrs. Rivenbaugh was a member of the Rebekah Lodge. The members attended in a group.
Although they were not members of the Penn Avenue Church, they gave liberally of their means for its support.
Mrs. Rivenbaugh was held in high esteem by all who knew her. She was especially fond of children and her home always open to them.
Sheshe loved everyone and manifested that love in the loving care she gave her parents. Her mother was cared for several years by her in their home.
Theirs was a most hospital home in which neighbors, friends and relatives were always welcome.
She was preceded in death by 2 sisters and 2 brothers, Mrs.Annie Swanger, Mrs Ida Knauer, George Schwab and Fred Schwab.
She is survived by her devoted husband Fred; 1 brother Oscar Schwab, and 1 sister Mrs. Alice Haworth; a large number of nieces and nephews and other relatives and a host of friends.
God saw the roasd was growing rough,
He gently closed her loving eyes and whispered Peace be thine.
Her weary days of pain are through,
Her restless night have passed
Her ever patient worn out frame,
Has found sweet rest at last.
Relatives and friends attending the services from other vicinities were; Mr.and Mrs.Frank Rivenbaugh, Mr.and Mrs. Merle Rivenbaugh, Mr.and Mrs. Lloyd Swanger, Mr.and Mrs.Leland Swanger and daughter, all of Nevinville; Lafe Schwab, Mr.and Mrs.Roy Taylor, Frank Haworth, Mrs. Alma Schwab all of Des Moines; Mrs. Mable Capps and son Harley of Richland; Mr.and Mrs. Cloyde Capps of Orient; Mr.and Mrs.Floyd Skellenger of the Stuart vicinity and many from the Penn Avenue neighborhood where the family formerly resided, Mr.and Mrs Clint Haworth of Shannon City; Raymond Chadwick of Creston; Mr.and Mrs.Roy Chadwick of Spaulding; Mrs. Maddie Marnin, Mrs.Mildred Johnson, Mr.and Mrs.Budd Pickrell al;l of Fontanelle.
