Former Casey Woman died Friday, Iowa City
Mrs. J. W. Gray, 79 years old, former resident of Casey, died Friday morning in the home of her daughter-in-law, Mrs. C. B. Gray, in Iowa City. She had suffered with arthritis for 15 years and had been bedfast about a month. Mrs. Gray lived in Casey with her family for 22 years and moved to Iowa City last August. Her husband, who died 10 years ago, formerly lived in Exira, Audubon and Atlantic while an engineer on the Rock Island. Later he owned the Citizens' Savings bank in Casey. She is survived by two sons, C. B. and F. L. Gray, and four grandchildren. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon in the Buckley funeral home in Stuart and were conducted by the Rev. Mr. Hempstead, pastor of the Congregational church at Stuart. Burial was in Oakwood cemetery at Casey.
