R.B. Thompson Dies Sunday Following OperationR. B. Thompson, 48 years old, former resident of Fontanelle and known here as "Bud" Thompson, died Sunday afternoon in the Greater Community hospital in Creston, following an operation performed there at 6:30 Saturday evening for the relief of a strangulated hernia. The family lives on a farm 5 miles south and 1 mile west of Orient. He had been afflicted with the trouble for several years and was taken seriously sick while picking corn Saturday afternoon. His wife called some of the neighbors,, who took him at once to the Creston hospital. Funeral services were held at the home Tuesday afternoon and were conducted by the Rev. Z. M. Bressler, of Nevinville. Burial was in the Fontanelle cemetery. Mr. Thompson is survived by his wife and four children: Merle, who is with the U.S. army at Fort Riley, Kansas; Mrs. Warren Eblen, of Williamson; Johnnie and Jule at home; also his mother, Mrs. John Thompson, brothers and sisters.
