David Cooper, 45, of Wagner, Okla., formerly an Adair County resident died Saturday June 5, at a Tulsa, Okla. Hospital from injuries suffered in an automobile accident on Thursday June 3.
David Mark Cooper was born at Greenfield on Feb. 26, 1959 the son of Leon & Sylvia [Baudler] Cooper.
He grew up in Adair County & attended Adair-Casey Schools where he graduated in 1977.
He worked at the Happy Chef while in school. After graduating he moved to Mo. & worked road construction & did carpenter work. He returned to the Atlantic area & then to Okla. & Ariz. where he did carpenter work full time. He worked on St.Croix Island in reconstruction after the hugh hurricane. For the past several years he had been in Okla.
He was married to Paula Poulin & had a son Chaddleon & daughter Jamie & then was married to Melissa Watkins & they were the parents of a son Joshua Mark Watkins.
David was a member of the Handy Man's Club, throughly enjoyed building, & was an avid fisherman.
He was a good teacher to his children, nieces, & nephews & was a friend & good helper for any friend in need.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents.
Survivors include his parents Leon & Sylvia Cooper; 2 sons Chadleon Cooper & wife Alma & daughter Makayla of Missouri Valley & Joshua Mark Watkins of Casey; 1 step-daughter Jamie Poulin & son Jacob Harsbarger of Atlantic; 2 brothers Ralph Cooper & wife Penny of Adair & Ivan Cooper & wife Lori of Kingsville, Mo.; 2 sisters Becky Ingram & husband John of Mesa, Ariz., & Bonny Readinger & husband Dan of Guthrie Center; nieces & nephews.
Funeral services were held at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Fontanelle Saturday June 12 with the Rev. John Emerson officiating.
Music tributes were by pianist Ruth Rohner & vocalists Katie Veatch & Ruth Johnson.
Honorary pallbearers were Chadleon Cooper, Rick Johnson, John L.Ingram, Adam Cooper, Dixie Cooper, Travis Cooper, Nathan Cooper, Dustin Readinger, Heather Readinger, Joshua Mark Watkins, Kelly Cooper, Zachary Cooper, Naomi Ingram & Angie Lowry.
Pallbearers were Billy Burcel, Rusty Johnson, Jimmy Gossick, Reggy Johnson, Gary Cook & Calvin Coil.
Flowerbearers were Ralph Baudler, Rex & Judy McDowell & Gina Coil.
Interment was in the Canby Cemetery.
