Alma Marie Carr, 94 passed away March 2 at the Good Samaritian Center in Fontanelle.
She was born Sept.9,1909 in a sod house in hettinger County near New England, N.D., to Oron & Lena [Scott] Bayman.
At the age of 3 months she left North Dakota with her parents, older brother & sister. She was from a family of 8 children.
She grew up in the Bridgewater area & attended Bridgewater High School.
On Aug.29,1928, Alma married Vernon L.Carr in Corning. They were the parents of 1 son Marland. They traveled with Vernon's work & resided in several states including California for the last several years. She moved back to Iowa in 1993 after her husband, son & grandson passed away.
Alma liked to camp & belonged to the Rebel Travel Trailer Club while living in California. She enjoyed nature, walking, crocheting, knitting, walking along beaches, visiting with family & friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Vernon; son Marland; grandson Dave Enloe; sisters Hazel Brisler; Erma Carr; brothers Lloyd Bayman & Lawrence Bayman.
She is survived by her daughter-in-law Lillian Carr Sawatsky and husband George of Grants Pass, Ore.; 2 granddaughters Rita Enloe of Sanger, Tx.; Lola Snitchler & husband Dan of Poulsbo, Wash.; 4 great-grandchildren Joshua Enloe of Spokane, Wash.; Hanna Keithline & husband Brian of Sanger, Tx.; Caroline Snitchler & Robyn Graham & husband Andrew all of Poulsbo, Wash.; 2 great-great-grandchildren twins Makenna & Cierra Graham of Poulsbo, Wash.; 3 sisters Rephea Steward, Dorothy Burg & Eleanor Steward, all of Fontanelle; other relatives & friends.
Funeral services were held Saturday March 6 at Steen Funeral Homes in Greenfield with the Rev. David Kruse officiating.
Musical tributes were by ofganist Becky Stuva.
Pallbearers were Gail Steward, Ed Steward, Jerry Carr, Allen Steward, Bill Lamb, Paul Zietlow & Kevin Blazek.
The floral committee was Sherry Zietlow, Marcy Blazek & Mary Lou Lamb.
Interment was in the Garner Cemetery in Bridgewater.
