Dale Lewis, 80, died March 21,2003 in Greenfield, Iowa.
Dale Kirlin Lewis was born Aug.16,1922 on a farm south of Stuart to Jesse and Florence [Kirlin] Lewis.
He attended rural school and graduated from Stuart High School. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1942 and served until his discharge in 1946.
After service, Dale remained in California where he worked until he went to Alaska to work for an Airline. He returned to California in 1961, making his home in Santa Barbara where he worked for General Motors as an Electronic Engineer for 30 years.
Dale was united in marriage to Marjorie Owen on Sept.29,1956, in Sponard, Alaska. To this union 2 daughters Sharon and Karen were born.
Dale enjoyed outdoor activities, working in his yard, gardening and fishing.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Marjorie; 3 brothers Merritt, Eldon and Reynold; and 3 sisters Viola Lewis, Leilah Lewis and Aleta Perry.
Dale is survived by his daughter Sharon Briggs and companion Ray Ketchum of Greenfield and Karen Lewis of Santa Barbara, Calif.; 2 step-children John Owen of Santa Barbara, Calif. and Nancy Richardson of Orlando, Fla.; 6 grandchildren including Steven Briggs of Greenfield; 2 step-grandchildren; 1 sister Grace Lowe of Greenfield; 2 sisters-in-law Doris Lewis of Greenfield and Rose Calaway and husband Russ of Colorado Springs, Colorado; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Monday March 24 at 10:30 a.m., at Fairview Congregational Christian Church in rural Stuart with the Rev.Randy Pearson officiating.
Music was provided by Ardith Buckner organist and Trent Buckner soloist.
Pallbearers were Keith Nielsen, Gale Nielson, Arnold Lewis, Dean Von Rentzel, Gene Scheiffarth and Terry Buckner.
Interment was in the Fairview Cemetery at rural Stuart.
