Kenneth Lyle Williams, 79, passed away Sunday March 13, 2005 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.
He was born Sept.6,1925, in Cass County to Glen and Edith [Johnson] Williams.
Betty Williams, 68, passed away April 11,1997 at her home in Atlantic.
She was born Jan.13,1929 in Anita to Raymond and Pearl Workman.
Kenneth and Betty were born, raised and attended school in Massena/Anita area.
They were united in marriage on March 2,1946, in Massena. To this union 2 children were born Peggy and Steven.
Kenneth served his country in the U.S.Army during WW2.
After returning from service, the family made their home in Atlantic. Kenneth worked for several years at an auto parts store in Atlantic and Betty worked outside the home. They enjoyed traveling and going to the casino. They loved raising and taking care of pets. Kenneth and Betty were members of the V.F.W. in Atlantic.
They were preceded in death by their parents; son-in-law Gail Schwenneker; great-grandson Tucker Bates; Kenneth's brother Eugene "Lefty" Williams.
They are survived by their daughter Peggy Schwenneker of Adair; son Steve and wife Jeannette of Des Moines; 9 grandchildren Sidney Henderson and family of Panora, Tim Schwenneker and family of Spencer, Randi Reasoner and family of Des Moines, Kelli Ruth and family of Orient, Traci Bates and family of Bayard, Tisha Williams of Coon Rapids, Kevin Williams and family of Des Moines, Travis Williams of Des Moines and Trevor Williams and family of Des Moines; several great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Mary Williams of Massena; Betty's half-sister Romona Alff of Tx. and Betty's step-brother Charles Miller of Atlantic.
Memorial services were held Saturday March 19, at Steen Funeral Home in Massena with the Rev.Jeffery Lambrecht officiating.
Music tributes were recorded selections of "The Old Rugged Cross" and "How Great Thou Art".
Honorary pallbearers were great-grandchildren Tori Reasoner, Levi Reasoner, Kennedy Wheat, Carson Wheat, Brock Henderson, Jared Henderson, Madison Schwenneker, Haley Schwenneker, Taylor Bates and Tommy Bates.
