Lyle Herriott 77, native of Casey, died Sunday Sept.26,2004.
Lyle Edgar Herriott was born Aug.14,1`927 at Casey, the son of Theron and Gladys [Williams] Herriott.
He grew up in the Casey area and graduated from Casey High School. He then entered the U.S.Navy at the end of World War 2.
In 1949 he was employed by Codington Rural Electric of Watertown, S.D., and from 1951 until 1954 he was theright-of-way dispatcher for East River Electric Power Co-Op of Madison, S.D. From 1954 until 1965 he managed Moreau Grand Electric Co-op at Timber Lake, S.D. and in 1965 he returned to East River as a special assistant to the general manager. He then spent 6 months in Viet Nam and 18 months in Nicaragua working with NRECA. He then worked at United Power Association in Elk River, Minn., before moving to Burlington, Kan., in 1974 where he managed the Coffey County Rural Electric Co-op. He later worked as a rural electric advisor in Bangladesh before retiring in 1985.
He was a member of the Knights of Columbus at St.Francis Zavier Catholic Church in Burlington and life member of the American Legion. He was a life member of the Aerie # 3577Fraternal Order of Eagles in Burlington.
He was married to Mary Ann Lantsberger in 1952 at Castlewood, S.D.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Survivors include 3 sons Doug Herriott of Lee's Summitt, Mo.; Jim Herriott of LaFayette, Colo.; and Mark Herriott of Overland Park, Kan.; 1 daughter Rebecca Cronin of Rapid City, S.D.; 9 grandchildren; his mother Gladys Herriott of Guthrie Center; 1 brother Virgil Herriott of Oakdale, Minn.; 2 sisters Neva Trouchetti of Jefferson and Lois Jacobson of Lee's Summit, Mo.; nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Services were held Wednesday Sept.29 at St.Mary's Catholic Church in Guthrie Center conducted by Fr.Chris Fontanini and Deacon Hans Seeman Mary Ann Haver was the organist. Interment of the cremains was in Dalmanutha Cemetery northwest of Casey.
