Norma Hager, 90, passed away Thursday, July 8,2004, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.

Norme Xola Hager was born Jan.25,1914 to Chester Clark and Leona Vea [Mason] Ray in Orient.

She was baptized and attended the Orient Methodist Church.

Her childhood was spent in the Orient vicinity and she received her formal education there. She spent some time working in Chicago and Des Moines.

On March 12,1936, Norma was united in marriage to Henry Hager at Winterset. Their marriage was blessed with 4 daughters and 2 sons.

Norma loved her family and was an avid sports fan. She especially loved the Chicago Cubs.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents;infant son; 1 sister and 2 brothers.

She is survived by 4 daughters Patty Newton and friend Larry Johnson of Casey; Peggy Fritz and husband Dean of Winterset; Dotty Allen and husband Steve of rural Orient and Ginny Mueller and husband Ron of Greenfield; son Ronald Hager and wife Jean of Ottumwa; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-granddaughter; other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held July 12 at the United Methodist Church in Greenfield with the Rev.Chad Lierman.

Music tributes were vocalists Julie Ann Hager, Diane Ramsey and Staci Jones and organist Melody Olson.

Pallbearers were John Mueller, Dennis Newton, Scott Hermann, Matt Hager, Todd Ramsey and Brian Thompson.

Honorary pallbearers were Jeff and David Newton, Mark Ramsey, Jay,Jared and Joel Fritz, Bret Hermann, Chad and Brent Wilker, Mike and Paul Mueller.

Interment was in the Greenfield Cemetery.

Steen Funeral Homes provided professional services.
