Lucille Stringer, 89, died unexpectedly July 17,2004 at home.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday July 21 at Menlo United Methodist Church.
Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Wednesday at Ruppert Funeral Home in Stuart, where family will be present 6-8 p.m.
Memorials may be made to the Menlo United Methodist Church.
Private burial at Rose Hill Cemetery in Menlo will be held at a later date.
Lucille was born Dec.2,1914 in Wichit, Iowa to Mabel and Elmer Pierce.
She graduated from Menlo High School and was married to Harper Stringer in 1933. She spent the ensuing years as a farmer's wife in and near Menlo. Where she belonged to many clubs and organizations. For most of her life, she was an active member of the Menlo United Methodist Church and its choir. For several years, she had a tax service in her home. She was an avid gardener, seamstress and bridge player.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years; parents; a sister and 2 brothers.
She is survived by her daughter Mary Kay and husband Lee Mowrer of West Des Moines; granddaughter Jill and husband David Bettes of Urbandale; great-granddaughter Taylor and grandson Brad Mowrer of St.Louis, Mo.
