Alice Marilla White, 100, passed away June 24,2004, at a nursing home facility in Sabetha, Kansas, just short of her 101st birthday!
She was born July 27,1903, daughter of Archie and Gertrude [Warner]Kirlin. She was one of 10 children.
She and her husband Claude operated their successful White's Variety Store in Sabetha, Kansas, for many years. Both were very active in their community. Alice remained in her own home until the last few months of her life, suffering a fall and some foot and leg infection.
Alice and Claude were the parents of 2 children, a son Robert "Bob" White now retired in Missoula, Mont. and 1 adopted daughter Betty White who works for the IRS in Kansas City, Mo.
Her husband; parents; sisters, Leila Stoll and Evelyn Sivadge; and brothers Leao Kirlin and Lyman "Pud" Kirlin; and 2 sisters who died in infancy preceded her in death.
Surviving her are her children and brothers Warner Kirlin, 95 of Eugene, Ore.; and Vernon Kirlin, 90, of Mason City.
Among those attending her funeral services were nephews and nieces Duane and Connie Sivadge of Omaha, Neb.; Russell and Grace Sivadge of Indianola; Cliff Sivadge of Norwalk; Barbara Sivadge Wilson of Stillwater, Minn.; and Marilla Sivadge Robbins of Des Moines. Duane, Russell, Cliff, Barbara and Marilla are the children of Claude and Evelyn Kirlin Sivadge, former residents of Fontanelle and Greenfield. Evelyn, who passed away in 1992, was Alice's sister.
