Donald J. Sackett was born July 10, 1911, to Orville and Mable (Head) Sackett in Grove Township Adair County. He passed away Wednesday, Nov. 8, 2000 at the Greenfield Manor.

Donald graduated from Greenfield High School with the class of 1929. On Feb. 22, 1950, he married Marie Faber in Barrington, Ill. They were the parents of two children, John and Kathy.

Donald and Marie farmed all of their married life in Adair County on a farm Donald was born on. In 1974 they retired and moved to Greenfield.

Donald enjoyed dancing, playing cards, watching sports and spending time with his grandchildren and family.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, and three sisters.

He is survived by his wife, Marie of Greenfield; son, John Sackett and wife Tarra of Brookings, S.D.; daughter, Kathy Sackett of Hanford, Calif.; sister Mildred Winn of Kaukauna, Wis.; two grandchildren, Dawn Sackett and Hilary Wald and husband Jeff; and one great-grandson, Carter Wald.

Funeral services were held Saturday, Nov. ll, at the Greenfield United Methodist Church in Greenfield with the Rev. Hugh Stone officiating. Janna Nelson, organist, and Jeff Wald, vocalist provided music.

Pallbearers were Bob Lilly, Frank Sackett, Merle Schaefer, Ralph Lane, Virgil Sackett and Donald Johnston. Elva Lilly and Louise Sackett were in charge of flowers.

Interment was in Greenfield Cemetery. Steen Funeral Home was in charge of professional arrangements.
