Sarah Lou Pellom was born at Salem, Ark., March 9, 1865 and passed away January 10, 1942, at the Crowell Memorial home in Blair, Neb. at the age of 76 years, 10 months and one day. Her family moved from Salem, Ark. to Memphis, Tenn., when she was a small child where her mother, brother and sister died. Her father and grandmother accompanied her to St. Louis where she spent 35 years.

She was united in marriage with Edward Nelson, March 10, 1884, who preceded her in death, Dec. 27, 1896. Her second marriage to Albert H. Herrick took place Dec. 6, 1899, at St. Louis, MO. They moved to Cherokee, IA, where they lived on a farm for several years until Mr. Herrick's failing health caused them to return to St. Louis where Mrs. Herrick secured employment and cared for her husband who was invalid for fifteen years. They moved to Greenfield about 1927 to be near his relatives, where they lived until he passed away March 8, 1932. For three years following his death she lived alone and then left for Blair, Nebr., Jan. 24, 1936, where she entered the Crowell Memorial Home where she spent her last spent the last six years and was much loved and respected by her many friends who will miss her companionship, but the memory of her kind deeds and readiness to help the weak and unfortunate will be an inspiration to those who survive her.

At the age of seventeen she was converted and joined the Baptist church in St. Louis, Mo. On behalf of herself and in memory of her husband she presented the church here with a pulpit Bible.

Mr. and Mrs. Herrick were faithful members of the Greenfield Methodist church during their stay here and she retained her membership in Greenfield until her passing.
