Charles Richard Grant, 62, died at Veterans Administration Hospital where he was taken for treatment. He had been experiencing health problems. Grant was a World War II veteran and was a heavy equipment operator in construction work for a number of years. He was the son of Charles and Ina Mae McClintic Grant, and was born in Adair County in 1924.

A graveside rite was held Wednesday morning, April 15, at the Greenfield Cemetery, with Rev. William Olmsted from the Greenfield Methodist Church in charge. There was a flag-folding ceremony by the Greenfield American Legion at the gravesite.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by a son, Brett A. Grant, and two daughters, Sandra Sue Parker and Jackie Jean Faucher, and four grandchildren.

Two of the children, Brett and Jackie, with their mother Lillian (Grant) Gores came from Renton, Washington, to attend the rite. Sandra Parker, expecting a baby soon, did not make the flight.
