Charles Otis Grant, only child of Benjamin E. and Hattie Otis Grant, was born in Yorkvillage, Maine March 21, 1904.

"Charlie," as he was known to his friends, came to Greenfield with his parents when he was but a small boy. He grew to maturity in Greenfield, acquiring his education in the Greenfield schools, and graduating with the Greenfield High School class of 1922.

In May 1924, he was united in marriage with Miss Ina McClentic of Stuart. One son, Charles Richard was born to this union, who with his wife Lillian, and their three children, Jackie, Sandra, and Brett, survive him.

"Charlie" spent the greater part of his active life working with the State Hi-way commission, and in the later years, in road construction work, which was his favored occupation. He lived in Greenfield the greater part of his life, moving to Casa Grande, Arizona about six months ago, due to health. He was on his way enroute from there to Greenfield, when he was stricken last Wednesday evening, March 31, 1965, with a coronary occlusion, which resulted in immediate death. He was at Texhoma, Oklahoma when this fatal attack struck him.

He is survived by his son, and daughter-in-law, and three grandchildren, (before mentioned) of Toltec, Arizona. Also his aged father Ben Grant, his stepmother, Mrs. May Grant, one step brother Roy Otis, and two step sisters, Mrs. Dorothy Morrison, and Mrs. Maria Wietzke, all of Greenfield. Also other relatives and friends. His mother preceded him in death several years ago.

Charlie was a member of the Masonic Lodge of Ancient Free and Accepted Masons.
