From the Adair County Free Press 1992 “Memorial Service Held for Evelyn Woodson, 85. A memorial service for Evelyn A. Woodson, 85, was held Friday morning, April 24 at the Steen funeral home in Greenfield. Mrs. Woodson died at Greenfield Manor on April 21, 1992. Rev. Peter Quiring from the Bethel Baptist Church at Stanzel had charge of the service, Glen and Vernell Jones sang two hymns Ivory Palaces and How great Thou Art” accompanied by Mrs. Alta Jones, organist. Interment was in the Greenfield Cemetery and the pallbearers were Phil Weber, Brad Woodson, Wendy Woodson, Bill Crigger, Eric Woodson, Joy Livingston and Jeff Livingston. Evelyn White Woodson graduated from Greenfield High School, where she received Normal training then taught for two years at Jefferson No 8 where she had herself attended grade school. She dedicated her life to her Savior at the age of 16 at Loucks Grove Church. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church at Stanzel at the time of her death. She married Marion R. Woodson December 28, 1926, at Rock Island, Illinois. They farmed and their children included: Marilou, Carolyn, Edward, Kay and Donnie. They retired to Greenfield, and her husband died in September of 1973. She is survived by these children: Marilou A. Brolin and husband Col. James F of Newhall California; Carolyn J Livingston and husband L. Gene of Menlo; Edward M. Woodson and wife Judy A of Woodstock, Illinois; Kay M. Hughes and husband James E of Oak Brook, Illinois; Donnie R. Woodson and wife Marilyn of rural Orient; seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren, and other relatives and friends.”
