“Lewis Marcus Dunkerson – Lewis Marcus Dunkerson on of the twelve children of Marcus and Fannie Lundy Dunkerson was born in Richland twp Adair County Iowa July 2, 1911 and suddenly succumbed to a heart attack as he was leaving in the car with a neighbor Wednesday afternoon November 17, 1954, at his home in Richland Township. He passed in the prime of his life at the age of 43 years, 4 months and 15 days. Lewis spent his entire life in the vicinity of Fontanelle working on various farms until he took up farming for himself. When he was but a small child on February 28, 1915 he was baptized in the Highland Methodist church. On December 4, 1937 he was united in marriage with Mrs. Mildred Funke. The marriage taking place in Atlantic Iowa. To Mr. and Mrs. Dunkerson two sons were born Donald age 16 and Daniel 7. Besides his wife and sons he is survived by four sisters: Mrs. Goldie Smart of Cheyenne Wyoming, Mrs. Pearlene Kinney, Mrs. Orville Wallace and Mrs. Mabel Dunn of Fontanelle. Also six brothers: Orville of Greenfield, Dewey of Creston Paul, Clarence, Marvern and James of Fontanelle and several sisters in law and brothers in law, a large number of nephews and nieces and a host of friends. His parents and one brother Cecil have preceded him in death” Adair County Free Press November 1954.
