Eloise Kay Griswold was born March 5, 1941, to Clarence and Isabel Griswold of Adair County, Iowa, where she lived until January of 1960. She then moved to Denver, Colorado to attend college. There she met Jack Walter Puscas. Jack had been born near Davenport, Iowa, January 11, 1933, to Helen (King) Puscas and Harry Puscas but moved to Portland, Oregon, during WWII when his father obtained a job in the shipyards. Jack was a professional boxer while residing in Oregon and had previously been the Amateur AAU Champion.

Jack and Kay married and had two daughters before moving to Adair County, Iowa, in the fall of 1967. They first moved into the Zion area but after a year and a half they moved to the family farm in Union Township. They resided there until 1985 when the moved to Des Moines, Iowa, where they continue to live.

They had two daughters. Deborah and her husband, Pat Henry, live in Creston, Iowa, and Diane and her husband, Alan Carr, live in Richland Township, Adair County.
