To this union seven children were born: LeRoy (born August 3,, 1922) married DaVonna, Velma (born June 8, 1924) married Donald Tiederman, Arlene (born July 24, 1929) married Earl Bunce, Frank (born March 5, 1931) married Gay, Harry, (born May 16, 1933) married Sharon, Vera (born July 9, 1935) married Dick Schneider and Lou (born October 24, 1940) married Larry Maynes. There are 23 grandchildren.

After they married, they lived in section 8, Grove Township. LeRoy and Velma were born there. At the time, their father was in partnership with his brother, Hiram, who lived with them until November 1927. Then they went to California to help Edith's parents get settled near Red Bluff and build a house. After returning to Iowa the later part of March 1928, they bought a farm in section 8, Grove Township, west of the first farm. Arlene, Frank, Harry and Vera were born here. In the spring in 1938, they bought a farm in section 13, Grove Township, two miles south of Howe. There Lou was born. They continued farming there until retiring and moving to Greenfield in November 1966.

The children went to rural school in Grove Township and graduated from Greenfield High School.

Art and Edith were baptized at Clara Chapel Church and attended church there until lightning struck the church and burned it down. They then joined with Grove Center Church, changing the name to Grove Chapel.

Art was in the U. S. Army during World War I and was stationed in Florida. He was involved in the AAA, Farm Bureau and the school Board. During his younger years, his horses were his pride and joy.

Edith was active in her women's church group and a neighborhood club called Jolly Dozen. She kept busy helping Art with the chores and raising a large garden and canning and sewing for her family. They especially enjoyed playing cards when they retired.

Edith passed away March 28, 1974. Art entered the Greenfield Manor on January 16, 1981, and passed away November 28, 1988.
