A love letter ....
Caroline 'Carrie' Reed and Edwin Cooper were Virginia Cooper's parents. Virginia went on to marry Curtis William Lenz. Carrie was born 05 Dec 1878 and died 06 Nov 1967. Edwin was born 17 Dec 1867 and died 13 Jul 1941. They were married on 29 Sept 1897.

Henry was born 22 Aug 1855, and died 30 Aug 1941. He was the first Lenz born in the United States, on his parent's farm in Center Township. William Henry was born 06 Jun 1878 and died in 1958. William started the Lenz Garage. Curtis William was born 08 Oct 1911, and died 24 Aug 2011. And Roger Curtis was born 26 Mar 1939.

The photo of the Lenz garage (immediately below) is now Kerndt Brothers Savings Bank. The undated interior & exterior photos (below left) are of the garage when located where Welsh's Farm and Home now is. The 1945 interior & exterior photos of the Lenz - Underwood garage (below right) were taken in the building where TJ Hunter's and Safe House Saloon now reside in Lansing on Main Street.
William Lenz started the business in the late 1910's, and when his son Curtis came of age he joined the business, working up until he was 96 years of age. It became Lenz Underwood when Jessie William 'Bill' Underwood bought into it. During those years it was a certified Farmall and Pontiac dealership. Bill was the husband of Alice (Lenz) Underwood.

The above photo of threshers in the field, is believed to be taken in the Church/Lansing area, possibably near the Lenz homestead in Center twp. No one in the photo is identified.
