W. H. BARR

    William Hutchinson Barr was born Oct. 9, 1847 in Mifflin Co., Pennsylvania. His ancestors migrated from Donegal Co., Ireland about 1790.  His schooling in Pennsylvania included two years in the seminary.  He came to Stevenson Co., Illinois from Penn. when he was a young man.  While in Illinois he married Jane Elizabeth Martin, on Oct. 29, 1869.  She was also born in Penn., on Aug. 21, 1843. They came to settle in Pilot Grove Twp., Section 13, in 1873 on the farm presently owned by W. G. McClain.  He farmed 80 acres of land and was well stocked with horses, cattle, hogs, etc.  Mr. and Mrs. Barr were both members of the Presbyterian Church.  They had six children, the first two of which were born in Illinois.

  1. James R., b. Aug. 25, 1870; d. about 1934.

  2. William R., b. May 15, 1872; d. Aug. 19, 1891.

  3. Minerva Ann Barr Milledge, b. June 19, 1875; d. Aug. 7, 1943.

  4. Grace Elizabeth Barr Barker, b. Oct. 27, 1877; d. Mar. 26, 1979.

  5. John Davis Barr, b. Aug. 19, 1880; d. 16 Feb. 1940.

  6. Carl Martin Barr, b. Aug. 22, 1883; d. April 27, 1968.

      Jane Martin Barr died March 28, 1913 and William Barr died in Colorado, May 3, 1923.
