Biographical Sketch of

Clara Bertine Nilson Levorson

 

Clara Bertine (Nilson) Levorson, of rural Osage, Iowa, was born in what was known as Rock Creek, Iowa, on November 25, 1879. She attended the St. Ansgar Seminary, and is a member of The United Norwegian Lutheran Church. Her parents were Erik Torgrimson Nilson and Inger Syverud. Erik, a farmer, and was born in Hadeland, Norway on June 24, 1854. Inger was born on July 29, 1857, and she died on January 26, 1910. Erik had come to the United States from Norway, with his parents, in 1867.

She married Otto G. Leverson, a farmer, on June 12, 1901. Refer to Otto's biography for information regarding their children.

For brothers and sisters, Clara had the following: Theodor Nilson, of Osage, Iowa; Martha J. Nilson, of Nora Springs, Iowa; and Mrs. Emma Krogstad, of Nora Springs, Iowa.

Clara's father's parents were Torgrim Nilson and Mari Erikson. Her mother's parents were Ole Syverud and Beret Espelien. Additionally, her father had a brother and a sister: Nikolai T. Nilson, who died July 24, 1899, and Mrs. Marie Jørgensen, of Litchfield, Minnesota.

Clara lived in the Rock Creek area of Mitchell County, also known as RFD 1, Osage.
