Emma Nilsen was born in what was known as Rock Creek, in Mitchell County, Iowa, on August 31st, in about 1890. At the time this was compiled, Emma lived at Nora Springs, Iowa.
Her parents were Erik Nilsen, who was born in Hadeland, Norway, and Inger Syverud, who was born in Black Earth, Wisconsin.
She married Gustav Krogstad on December 6, 1910.
Emma's brothers and sisters included: Mrs. O.G. Leverson, of Milaca, Minnesota; T.O. Nelson, of Osage, Iowa; Mary Nelson, of Nora Springs, Iowa; and Carl Nelson, of Nora Springs, Iowa.
Her paternal grandparents were Mr. and Mrs. Torgrim Nilsen. Her maternal grandparents were Mr. and Mrs. Ole Syverud. Also, her father's sister was Mrs. G. A. Jorsenson.
