One (1) Stone- 1 body

     Reverend-Father Francis Hartin = Catholic Priest 
             (About April 28, 1873 - ae 31/32

History
While this young Priest was at Marengo Parish with his sister Eliz- 
abeth Hartin who lived with him, he was called to attend a very sick 
person in the southern part of Iowa County at town of Holbrook, in 
Greene Township; Their Parish Priest being absent; The cold rain dur- 
ing the trip, resulted in a "cold and infection" from which he died 
about April 28, 1873 age 31/32

Father Hartin left a will dated November 25, 1872 written at age 30 
and according to records his sister completed the settlement of his 
estate. He willed his one suit of vestments to Rev. Father Flavier 
of Davenport. The balance was sold: 3 horses- 1-buggy- set of horn- 
ess- one cow; A watch apparently bought by sister Elizabeth.

Probate File # 3045 - Iowa County at Marengo, and from Church sources.

Remarks
Behind the alter of the Catholic Church ;Remove the floor board and the 
stone is visable; Down about 10/12 feet.

Relatives of Father Hartin still live around the area and are members of 
the Catholic Church; Within the past 10 years some of his relatives from
Ireland have visited here.
