The Andrew German Family

Andrew German came to Clarke Co. with his parents and 6 brothers in 1868. He was married to Patience Betson, who came from Pennsylvania. They were parents of Wilbur, Sylvester, Stephen, Marion and Ervin, Lilly German Morgan and Eva.

Ervin H. German (1870-1948) was born and raised at Hopeville, was married to Margeret Morgan (1875-1939). They were the parents of E. O. (Smoky) and Geneva Henderson Tucker. Mr. German was in business in Hopeville for many years. He and his wife took part in many community activities and shared their

 

 

home with those less fortunate.

E. O. (Smoky) German was born in 1895 and spent his childhood around Hopeville. In 1926 he married Pauline Sevier. They lived most of their married life near Hopeville. They were the parents of one daughter, Tharon.

His activities during his lifetime consisted of square dance calling, baseball playing and also managing teams. He also owned a race horse and trained them. He was a man who never met a stranger and never forgot a friend.

Tharon was married to Max Flaherty of Murray. They are the parents of two sons, Russel Eldon and Ronald Braxton.
