C. H. Stierwalt Family

C. H. (Charley) Stierwalt came to Murray on March 1, 1880, from Warren County, Iowa, with his mother and brother, Jack Stierwalt. He settled on a farm N.E. of Murray.

He was married to Rosa M Hines in 1887. They had two children, Henry LeRoy (Jim) and John Earl. Rosa died in 1896.

On December 5, 1897, he was married to Mary Leota James of Oakley, Iowa. They were the parents of three children, Lora Stierwalt Burgus of Murray,

Charles M. of Overland Park, Kansas, and Wm. Wayne who died at three yoars of age. Henry LeRoy (Jim) farmed in this area many years and is now deceased, John Earl lives in Chicago, Ill.

He farmed for many years and was a lover of horses. He was owner of two imported stallions, these were a Percheron from France and a Belgian from Belgium.

Both he and Mrs. Stierwalt are now deceased.
