Lulu Walker

Frank Nelson White and Anna Lee Bott were married Jan. 15, 1885. Both lived in Union county until their marriage. They then moved to Los Angeles, California. A daughter, Lulu Belle White Walker was born Feb. 21, 1886. Frank Nelson died June 26, 1887.

Mrs. White and Lulu returned to Murray in 1890 to live with Mrs. White's parents, Rev. and Mrs. J. W. Bott. They also lived in Seymour and Humeston, Iowa, where Lulu attended school. They then moved to Fairview, Iowa, near Anamosa, where they met the Walker family. They returned to Murray in 1902 where Lulu entered school as a sophomore, graduating from M.H.S. and entering Simpson College as a dramatic student. After college she worked in the telephone office from 1913 until 1921, at which time she returned to college taking a public school music course.

She started work with the children in and around Murray in 1924. with individuals and group work. Her Rhythm Band played for the first Jamboree. She still follows her musical occupation today, having just entered her students in a music contest and returning with some excellent ratings. She has been an institution in this community where music is concerned having taught many of the boys and girls as the years have progressed. She was also a Sunday School teacher in the Methodist Church for many years. Her mother died Feb. 28, 1949.

On July 25, 1951 she married Ed Walker, a lifelong friend. He died Dec. 20, 1952. She has a grandson, Larry Walker. He and his wife live in Los Angeles, California, where he is district manager of Sheraton West Hotel chain.
